Privacy Policy

Mynotes is designed to give you a private, local place for web research and personal notes.

This policy explains how the Mynotes Chrome extension handles information. “Mynotes,” “we,” and “us” refer to the developer of the extension.

1. The short version

Mynotes stores your library locally in Chrome. We do not operate a server that receives or stores the content of your notes, highlights, URLs, collected images, or attachments. Google Drive sync is an optional Mynotes Pro feature. If you turn it on, Mynotes stores your sync data in the private Google Drive appDataFolder of the Google account you choose.

2. Information stored by the extension

When you use Mynotes, the extension may store the information needed to provide its features, including:

This information is stored locally in Chrome extension storage and, for attachments, in the browser’s local database.

3. Optional Google Drive sync

Sync is off by default and requires Mynotes Pro or an active Pro trial. If you choose to connect Google Drive, Mynotes requests access only to the drive.appdata scope. This allows the extension to create and update its own hidden application-data files; it does not grant Mynotes access to your normal “My Drive” files.

When sync is enabled, the saved content listed above may be uploaded to and downloaded from your private Google Drive app-data folder so it can be available on another Chrome device using the same extension and Google account. Google handles that data under its own policies.

You can disconnect Google Drive in Mynotes settings. Disconnecting stops future sync; it does not automatically delete data already stored in your Google Drive app-data folder.

4. Payments

Mynotes Pro payments and licensing are handled through ExtensionPay and Stripe. Mynotes does not collect or store your full payment-card number. Those providers process payment and licensing information under their own privacy policies.

5. Information we do not collect

Mynotes does not include third-party advertising or analytics that track your note content. We do not sell your library content or use it to build advertising profiles. The extension does not send your saved library to a developer-operated cloud service.

6. Chrome permissions

Mynotes uses Chrome permissions only to provide its stated features: saving and restoring highlights and notes, acting on the current tab, showing a right-click command to save an image, opening the notes and PDF views, scheduling optional sync, and connecting the Google account you choose for private Drive sync. It needs access to webpages so it can display and restore highlights on pages you have saved.

7. Retention and deletion

You control your local library. You can delete individual notes, webpage groups, attachments, and all stored Mynotes data from within the extension. Uninstalling the extension removes local extension data in the ordinary course of Chrome’s uninstall process. If you enabled Google Drive sync, delete the app’s data or revoke its Google Drive access separately if you want to remove the synced copy.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Mynotes changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
